Welome to the Academic Building!

The Academic Building has been around since the early 1900's. This building houses several Liberal Arts college departments and a donated  Liberty Bell located inside of it. Additionally, the seal of Texas A&M University is located right below the bell. The seal has a myth behind it: students who step on the seal will not graduate, so many students avoid the seal, but, thankfully, it is blocked off by ropes to help students avoid the bad luck. Also, in front of the Academic Building (plaza) is a statue of Sul Ross (Sully). Sully was a president at Texas A&M back in old army days who provided free tutoring to all students. When students asked "what can I pay you in return" he would say "just a penny for your thoughts". Therefore, before finals, exams, interviews, etc., you can walk by Sully's statue and see tons and tons of pennies, quarters, dimes, etc., all sitting there to provide the students with good luck. Also, during the semesters at Texas A&M you will find organization representatives in the plaza area recruiting and/or providing information for events, fundraisers, etc., for their organization.
